50 Years of Changing Lives

Fifty years ago, a simple belief took root in our community. Everyone deserves the chance to build a better future.

Since 1975, Goodwill of Middle Georgia & the CSRA has helped over 500,000 people discover their gifts, gain new skills, and step into careers that support their families.

What began as a small local effort has grown into a powerful model for education, workforce and career development across our 35-county region.

At the center of that work is Helms College, the only college in the world operated by an autonomous Goodwill non-profit organization. At Helms College, students gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers that lead to a more abundant life.

This report reflects the lives changed and the opportunities still ahead.

Education That Opens Doors

At Helms College, 424 students enrolled and 238 graduated, many stepping into jobs in healthcare, hospitality, and skilled trades before they even crossed the stage. During the year, Helms College also achieved a significant milestone with the renewal of its five-year accreditation with the Washington, D.C.-based Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training (ACCET). The accomplishment affirmed the strength of our innovative immersion education model.

For many students, Helms College represented more than education.

It represented a new beginning and a more abundant life.

Empowering Through Education and Career Coaching

Goodwill Career Education Goodwill Career Education helped 182 graduates grow their skills and transform their futures. Through high-quality instruction and personalized coaching, students gained industry-recognized credentials, hands-on experience, and the confidence to pursue meaningful work.

Each success story is a seed planted, growing into stronger careers, families, and communities.

Elevating Futures with Every Meal

More than 100,200 guests dined at Edgar’s Hospitality Group restaurants and venues. Each meal was more than a dining experience. It was an investment in people.

These venues serve as applied learning labs for Helms College, where students gain real-world skills that lead to careers, confidence, and brighter futures.
