What's the Story on Those Goodwill Color Codes?

Have you ever wondered about the blue, red, green or yellow color tags or the letters B, R, G or Y on Goodwill merchandise? Those color codes help our employees manage Goodwill’s inventory. The tags are added when a donated item is processed so our employees know how long the item has been available.

Color Tag Sales

After three weeks on the sales floor, items with "the color tag of the week" are on sale during the fourth week. Clothing with the color tag of the week is priced at only $0.99 on Mondays*. Housewares, books and accessories with the color tag of the week are priced at only $0.99 on Wednesdays*. All other days of the week, the color tag of the week items are 50% off*! Any unsold items are then sent to our Last Chance! store, our Goodwill Outlet stores or recycled to make room for fresh inventory.

*These offers are valid only at Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA locations. These offers are not valid on new good items, electronics, furniture or specialty priced items.
