Frank Kassner Joins Edgar's Hospitality Group as Executive Chef and Culinary Operations Director
Kassner will oversee culinary operations at Edgar’s Grille, The Pinnacle Club, Edgar’s Above Broad, Snelling Conference Center, Anderson Conference Center, Edgar’s Catering & Events and contract food service division
Edgar’s Hospitality Group has hired Chef Frank Kassner to serve as executive chef and culinary operations director. Kassner, who was most recently executive chef at the award-winning Montage Palmetto Bluff, will oversee menu development and culinary operations at locally acclaimed Edgar’s Grille, city club The Pinnacle Club, meeting and event venues Snelling Conference Center and Anderson Conference Center and the soon-to-open downtown rooftop venue Edgar’s Above Broad.
Chef Kassner was recruited to elevate EHG venues to culinary award-wionning status and to help magnetize students from across the continent to study at Helms College. Kassner will serve as an ambassador and mentor for Goodwill-sponsored Helms College, which provides experiential learning at the EHG hospitality outlets as part of its core curriculum for culinary students. Earlier this year, Helms College announced a new degree in partnership with The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee. Kassner will support this program and be involved with enrollment selections for the Associate Degree in Culinary Operations in Resorts and Clubs (CORC), wherein students will extern at a Ritz-Carlton property and enjoy learning experiences at EHG venues and Augusta National during the Masters Tournament.
“I am excited to introduce my creative take on local Southern cuisine – staying true to original flavor profiles while adding innovative twists and utilizing as many Georgia-grown products as possible. Together, with the rest of the Edgar’s Hospitality team, I am eager to create wholesome and award-winning cuisine for all of our venues,” said Chef Kassner. “I look forward to serving the community with Edgar’s Hospitality Group and getting involved with Helms College to mentor and help students succeed in their learning and career pursuits.”
Kassner joins the Edgar’s Hospitality family following three years at celebrated luxury resort and private club Montage Palmetto Bluff, in Bluffton, S.C., where he served as executive chef/restaurants, leading culinary operations for nine restaurants. Prior to the Montage, he spent 17 years with The Ritz-Carlton hotel brand at properties in Naples, Amelia Island and Sarasota, Fla. before serving as executive chef in Boston. Chef Kassner began his career with The Ritz-Carlton under 3-star Michelin-trained Paul Urchs in Berlin – where Kassner also grew up.
When not working, Kassner enjoys spending time with his wife, Thao, and their two young daughters. They are avid gardeners, growing vegetables, herbs and most recently, specialty varieties of chili peppers from India, Thailand and Vietnam - which coincidentally thrive in Georgia’s hot summer climate.
A focus of Chef Kassner will be consistency and quality throughout Edgar’s Hospitality Group culinary operations, exploring new ways to blend traditional favorites with emerging techniques and trends.
“Chef Kassner enables us to enhance our culinary offerings, providing guests with an exceptional dining experience in world-class venues,” said Tripp Harrison, Senior Vice President of Edgar’s Hospitality Group. “The perspective he brings via his past experiences around the world will shape our menus and our service delivery. Helms College students will have an advantage when they start their culinary careers having had the opportunity to learn from, and work alongside, such an acclaimed chef. We look forward to seeing the impact Chef Kassner is going to have on the culinary landscape in Augusta.”
