Edgar?s Hospitality Group to Celebrate the Grand Opening of Edgar?s Bakehouse

AUGUSTA, Ga – Edgar’s Bakehouse, a new bakery concept from Edgar’s Hospitality Group (EHG) is opening to the public on July 12th.  A ribbon-cutting ceremony will commence at 8 AM.

Located on the Washington Road Helms College Campus, adjacent to the Goodwill Retail store, Edgar’s Bakehouse is the fifth hospitality venue operated by Edgar’s Hospitality Group in Augusta, GA. It will feature baked delights as well as custom signature-blend coffee dubbed Hire Grounds.

“At Edgar’s Hospitality Group, we operate under the invitation to, ‘Come Hungry. Leave Fulfilled,’” said James Stiff, President of Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, the umbrella nonprofit organization for Edgar’s Hospitality Group. Stiff says, “When you enjoy our fresh baked pastries and delicious beverages at Edgar’s Bakehouse, you help others build new career pathways.” EHG venues provide unique experiential learning opportunities for culinary students of the School of Hospitality at Helms College, this experiential learning career college was established in 2007 by Goodwill of Middle Georgia & the CSRA. Like Edgar’s Hospitality Group, its culinary enterprises - Edgar’s Grille, Edgar’s Above Broad, and Helms College, Edgar’s Bakehouse is named in honor of Goodwill’s founding father, Rev. Edgar Helms.

Executive Pastry Chef for Edgar’s Hospitality Group, Michael Romano, will be leading the company’s dessert, bread, and coffee programs across all locations. Chef Michael Romano is spearheading the opening of Edgar’s Bakehouse.  Chef Michael is a two-time Food Network champion. Prior to joining Edgar’s Hospitality Group, Michael was the Executive Pastry Chef at The Pierre, a Forbes 5-star, AAA 5-diamond hotel in the heart of New York City. Michael is a seasoned pastry chef with over 15 years of experience spanning from opening his own bakery in New York City to preparing arrays of desserts for events from Google’s corporate holiday parties to the James Beard Gala.

“I’m excited to be opening Edgar’s Bakehouse here in Augusta at a critical time of growth for the city,” said Michael. “Knowing that Edgar’s Hospitality Group’s various locations are destinations within this community, I couldn’t be more thrilled to share my passion for pastry and help expand the Edgar’s brand. I look forward to sharing artisan techniques with both the community and the students at Helms College. The opportunity to expand minds and palates is an exciting one that I’m thrilled to lead.”

Edgar’s Bakehouse will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
