ReNew and Brew brings Helms College Hospitality students and craft brewers together

to raise money for scholarships

Goodwill, along with the dynamic host committee for the Sixth Annual ReNew and Brew, invites the community to join in this celebration of “renewal” set for Friday, Feb. 1 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. at the Snelling Conference Center in Augusta. Proceeds benefit Helms College, which is sponsored by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA.

Host committee members Daniel and Elizabeth Metzel, Alex and Courtney Wier, Chris and Lauren Ayers, Kaycie Callaway, Austin Jackson, Kevin and Leslie Glass, and Jay and Anna Mundy welcome attendees to join them in sampling craft beers from 16 Southeastern breweries and enjoying heavy hors d’oeuvres created by the chefs and students at Helms College.

There is a wide range of beer flavor profiles, including Crisp and Clean, Malty and Sweet, Dark and Roasty, Hoppy and Bitter, Fruity and Spicy and Sour and Tart. Attendees will be treated to a menu specifically designed by the college’s culinary students to complement the featured beers.

Participating breweries include Abita, Atlanta Brewing Company, Boston Beer Company, Catawba Brewing Company, Gate City Brewing Company, New Realm Brewing Company, Orpheus Brewing, Revelry Brewing, Riverwatch Brewery, Savannah River Brewing Company, Scofflaw Brewing Company, Service Brewing Company, Sierra Nevada, Southbound Brewing Company, Sweetwater Brewing Company and Treehorn Cider.

“Students are provided with multiple opportunities to expand their skills and showcase their abilities through the experiential learning model at Helms College,” said James K. Stiff, president of Helms College and Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. “Helms College scholarships are a direct link to career paths for students that otherwise would not be available. This is one of those special events that brings our community supporters together with the students whose lives are impacted by that support.”

The Snelling Conference Center is located on the Goodwill campus at 3165 Washington Road in Augusta. Event tickets are $75 each.
