Paddling for a Purpose: Annual Dragon Boat Festival Benefits Helms College

The eighth annual GoodBoats dragon boat festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 4 at Lake Olmstead in Augusta. A celebration of Asian culture, the event begins at 9 a.m. and is free to attend. Proceeds benefit Helms College, an accredited career training college in Augusta.

Since the release of the Netflix decluttering series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo, Goodwill of Middle Georgia & the CSRA has seen a significant increase in donations in the first two months of this year over the same period in 2018. A recent survey by OfferUp also shared that nearly half of Americans are proud bargain shoppers and brag to peers about finding great deals.

Helms College Graduates Ready to Enter Work Force

The 14th annual Goodwill Gala, benefitting Goodwill of Middle Georgia, was held Dec. 7 at the Anderson Conference Center. The event brought together individuals and organizations to raise $100,000 in support of providing scholarships to deserving students for academic and career development programs at Helms College.

On Saturday, December 15th, Goodwill will transform its Snelling Conference Center into a magical place for storytelling and holiday fun as it presents the Magical Christmas Storytelling Event. This free event is part of Goodwill’s Good Readers program, which works to engage young minds and foster a lifelong love of reading.
