Goodwill Opening Outlet Store in Augusta

Shoppers score big bargains by the pound

(AUGUSTA, GA) - Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA will open its first outlet store on October 24 at its Washington Road campus in Augusta in the former Final Cut location.

The new store will sell merchandise in similar bins as the Final Cut model by the pound.

Goodwill rotates merchandise out of its regular retail stores after three weeks. Items not sold in that timeframe will be transferred to the outlet where they will be placed in large bins or on tables for customers to self-sort and purchase by the pound at a substantial savings over Goodwill’s already low prices.

“Goodwill has always been a leader in the reuse, repurpose, recycle movement. The Goodwill Outlet will help us be even better stewards of items donated by our generous material donors,” said James Stiff, President and CEO of Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. “This new outlet store will be a treasure trove for bargain hunters and a new avenue of support for our mission to build career pathways out of poverty for the citizens of the CSRA whom we serve.”

Through its Job Connection career centers, the local nonprofit provides employment readiness training, computer access, educational assistance, skills workshops and other services. Last year the organization served 15,633 clients, placing 6,483 people in jobs with an estimated total economic impact of $180 million in the communities it serves.

Extending its commitment to career preparation, a decade ago Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA launched Helms College, offering associates degree programs, and Helms Career Education, offering stackable skills and industry certification classes.

Sales from Goodwill’s retail stores in the Augusta area plus the new Goodwill Outlet support its ongoing work to connect local citizens to meaningful employment and career opportunities.

The grand opening for the new Goodwill Outlet is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24 at 9 a.m. at 3137 Washington Road.
